Accommodation

If hotel/hostel accommodation is required, we would recommend the following (*subject to availability):

A. Hostels (Budget Hotels) Room Type : Private Twin En-suite
  1. Sun Kong Hostel
    2. Flat C5, 6th Floor, Block C, Paterson Building, 37 Paterson St., Causeway Bay, Hong Kong from HK$352 (US$45) p.n.
  2. Marlboro Hostel
    3. Flat/ RM C2 2/F, Paterson Building, 37 Paterson Street, Causeway Bay, Hong Kong from HK$322 (US$41) p.n.

    These are pretty basic, but cheap and in a good location. Loads of restaurants and shops nearby. Click here for more information and pictures.

B. Hotels (Budget Hotels)
  • Emperor Hotel (Happy Valley) - HK$700 (US$90) p.n.
  • Regal Hotel (Causeway Bay) - HK$950 (US$121) p.n. 
  • Excelsior Hotel (Causeway Bay) - HK$1,200 (US$153) p.n. 

All of the accommodation mentioned is in the Causeway Bay/Happy Valley area. The Victoria Recreation Club - which is situated in Deep Water Bay on the Southside of Hong Kong Island - is a 15 minute taxi ride from these areas.

Accomodation Recommendations

Although there are literally hundreds of Hotels in Hong Kong, the organisers of The Man Dragon Run 2008 strongly advise paddlers visting from overseas to stay in the Causeway Bay/Wan Chai area. These are major tourist areas and are close to many great restaurants, bars and shops.

The event website lists a few options (and there are many others), and in particular we'd like to confirm that we have worked out a discounted rate at the following three popular and well-known 4 star hotels in the Causeway Bay area:

  • The Excelsior HK$1,400 (plus 10%), Superior Room....[Note: we did have an offer of HK$1,200 for a Standard Room, but they appear to have none available during the race period]
  • The Park Lane (HK$1,400 plus 10%), Superior Room
  • The Regal (HK$980 plus 10%), Standard Room

To get the discounted rate, all bookings must be coordinated by Andy Orr (aorr@imgworld.com). These hotels will require a credit card number in order to confirm a booking. Bookings are obviously subject to availability, so we would advise you to send us your room requests without delay.
